Travel software specialists Multicom have developed a dedicated Cruise API for its market leading booking platform FindandBook (FaB) as demand for cruise holidays is forecast to double over the next decade.

The UK cruise market grew by 4% between 2008 and 2009 and that trend is set to continue despite the current economic gloom as prices have fallen over the same period.

At the same time online cruise bookings have shot up from 9% to more than 17% over the last two years, highlighting the growing demand for FaB to provide a dedicated cruise API.

Multicom Managing Director John Howell said: “There is ample evidence that cruise holidays are not suffering the same impact as traditional holidays from the tough financial climate we are all experiencing.

“In addition the growth of online bookings is exceptional and ensuring travel agents using FaB have access to cruise holidays was a key business objective for Multicom.

“The development of our cruise API will ensure that FaB users are ideally placed over the coming years to be able to service that demand and provide the best possible choice to their customers.

“We are already in talks with several leading cruise companies and market leading travel agents to provide them with our cruise API and expect to be able to announce details of our first contract in the very near future.”
